Review Roundup: The405 feature, interviews with BDY_PRTS, Flying Lotus and Iglooghost. (And a lot more.)

Here’s some highlights from my recent adventures as a freelancer. It’s been a busy few months with starting my new Masters course, but I’ve been lucky enough to write some of the biggest pieces of my career so far, and hopefully some of the best. Here’s a collection of  my favourites below. To find the rest, hit me up on Twitter @UhOhItsStevo.

My recent feature for the405 covers the ubiquitous pop song and where it’s gone in the streaming era. I also gush over the Charli XCX video for boys for 300 words. My wonderful friend @Bad_Drgn did the art for it.

A texted conversation with cult electronic musician, Iglooghost, for Loud and Quiet.

I chatted about llamas, Glasgow and Spotify subterfuge with rising Glasgow duo, BDY_PRTS (Available in this month’s Skinny):

I got to chat with Flying Lotus, personal hero of mine, about the launch of his new film, Kuso.

My summer gig highlight could well be Ibibio Sound Machine’s set at the Edinburgh Jazz festival, which I wrote for the Skinny.

Charly Bliss played an immaculate set at the Hug and Pint that’s well worth revisiting

HMTLD played a gig that felt like the birth of a cult movement. That’s worth a read, right?

OOH! I went to Electric Fields and got to cover the whole thing for the Skinny

Bella might not be as glamorous, but my piece on it was just as fun to write.

Why not finish off with a fun playlist? Here are my current jams as winter begins to roll in. Mostly new stuff but there’s a few oldies too.
